Yesterday, Apple took the wraps off the Apple Creator Studio, a subscription package that pulls all of Apple’s creative apps together in one place. The platform combines music production, video editing, special effects, and page layout and production. The specific apps included are MainStage, Logic Pro, Final Cut Pro, Pixelmator Pro, and Motion. It’s worth noting that Pages, Keynote, Freeform, and Numbers are included as well. Keynote, Numbers, and Pages are included with macOS, but the subscription offers new templates and themes for the apps.
Apple Creator Studio will be available in the App Store starting January 28th for $12.99/month or $129/year. Users who have purchased the Apple Creator Studio apps can still install and use them without additional fees. Standalone purchases will also still be offered.
The good news is that you can use Apple Creator Studio with your Apple Family Plan and share creative access with the family at no extra expense. I’m not sure this goes head-to-head with the Adobe Creative Cloud, but then again, if you’re buying a Mac-based PC for creative work, these apps are just considered part of your investment, so it does protect the wallet a bit upfront after you’ve dropped the cash on an Apple PC.
