AT&T isn’t offering the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold through sales channels

Yesterday was a big day for fans of Google Pixel devices, especially those who were waiting for the next generation of folding phones from Google: the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. If you’re an AT&T user hoping to get Google’s newest folding phone on a hot trade-in deal or through monthly payments, you’re a bit disappointed this morning.

According to CNET, AT&T has confirmed that it will not be offering the Pixel 9 Pro Fold in the traditional carrier-locked model you’re used to. However, the rest of the new Pixel 9 lineup, including the Pixel Watch 3, is available through AT&T. The carrier did offer the first version of the Pixel Fold through its network.

While this is a bit surprising, it’s not uncommon for some carriers not to offer all phones. Sometimes, they choose not to offer phones due to agreements with other brands, lackluster sales, or maybe something about the phone that doesn’t work with their network. If you remember, the first iPhone was exclusively for AT&T networks.

Verizon and T-Mobile are offering the device through their regular sales channels with the normal incentives. Your best bet for getting the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold on the AT&T network would be to buy the device unlocked from your favorite retailer. Although you may be doing this at your own risk, we don’t know yet if AT&T is allowing the device on its network at all.
