New Bose Ultra Open Earbuds: Carbon Blue
Today, Bose is excitingly dropping its first new metallic colorway for the Ultra Open Earbuds: Carbon Blue. These earbuds feature a vibrant blue silicone band with a glossy, iridescent cap finish showcasing a stunning blue and purple gradient effect. They make the perfect gift for anyone who enjoys listening to music while staying aware of their surroundings, such as runners, athletes, gym enthusiasts, or new parents. When I first got my hands on the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds, I was intrigued by their unique design. The silicone band is vibrant and comfortable, and the iridescent cap adds a touch of elegance. However, while they look stylish and durable, they might not suit everyone’s taste.
Putting them on for the first time was a good experience. The open-ear design is certainly innovative, allowing me to stay aware of my surroundings while listening to music. This feature is beneficial for outdoor activities or working from home. However, the earbuds fit securely, but during intense workouts, I found myself adjusting them more often than I’d like.

The sound quality is impressive for an open-ear design, with clear and crisp audio. Yet, it’s important to note that the bass isn’t as deep as some might expect from Bose. The open-ear nature also means you won’t get the immersive experience you’d find with traditional in-ear or over-ear headphones. Ambient noise is a double-edged sword; while it keeps you aware, it can also interfere with your listening enjoyment.
The touch controls are intuitive and convenient for managing playback, volume, and calls. However, the sensitivity can sometimes be a bit off, requiring a few tries to get the desired response. The battery life is decent, offering hours of listening, but it could be longer for extended use.
Overall, the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds are a solid choice for those who prioritize awareness of their surroundings while enjoying music, i.e. anyone who doesn’t like fumbling with their earbuds in different situations. Their stylish design, comfortable fit, and decent sound quality make them a good option, although they do have some limitations. If you need a versatile pair of earbuds, these are worth considering, but they might not be the best fit for everyone.
