Following its 60th anniversary celebration with a sweepstake and discounted devices, Bose took the wraps off a new surround sound listening experience earlier today that its calling Bose Personal Surround Sound as well as expanding its QuietComfort brand with new ANC supported earbuds.
Bose Smart Soundbar
For anyone looking to augment their home entertainment experiences, Bose is now delivering its new Bose Smart Soundbar which leverages an improved A.I Dialogue Mode, Dolby Atmos support, and the patent Bose TrueSpace technology for immersive sound.
Bose first seeded its A.I. Dialogue Mode technology with the Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar last year with intentions of centering dialogue in a scene so that it’s prevented from being drowned out by background noise or effects in a scene. While the title implies some sort of artificial intelligence is listening to audio to discern dialogue from sound effects, Bose actually leverages machine learning to boosts and adjust tonal balance in real-time to sort speech from sound effects to offer a clearer spoken audio in scenes. The technology is a bit more complicated than simply smashing the treble lever because A.I. Dialogue also maintains and preserves the immersive background noise or sound effects in a scene while also highlighting speech at the same time.

However, if you live in a busy household, the audio from your soundbar or current entertainment setup may be the least of your worries as rambunctious kids, phone calls, PC notifications, music playing from another room, or loud social media apps my tend to drown out crucial listening experiences. Hence, Bose’s new Personal Surround Sound experience that leverages the new Bose Smart Soundbar and the company’s Ultra Open Ear buds.
The unique open-ear design of the Ultra Open Earbuds combined with breakthrough Bose immersive Audio technology enables the buds to act as rear surround speakers for an individual user while still being able to hear the powerful audio emanating from the soundbar – creating an unparalleled sonic experience of sound all around you. The resulting effect is a deep, rich personal, sound bringing an entirely new meaning to immersive audio.
Bose
Through the process of Dolby Atmos and Bose Spatial technologies, Personal Surround Sound makes use of digital signaling processes, audio decoding via five transducers to envelop users in a cocoon of sound despite the limited number of physical speakers being utilized.
The new Bose Smart Soundbar is a more compact experience that sits 2.2 inches tall and 4.1 inches deep at just over 27 inches long and should rest under most TVs in an unobstructive view of any home theater set up. The overall look of the Bose Smart Soundbar is unassuming with its matte black colorway and open grilled casing delivering deeper bass performance than some of the company’s other standalone soundbar experiences.

To go along with its straightforward look and feel, Bose has made connecting the Smart Soundbar a one-step experience where users link the bar to their home theaters through a single HDMI eARC or optical cable. Furthermore, the Smart Soundbar comes with Roku TV, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, Wi-Fi, and Apple AirPlay 2 support for additional selected experiences, as well as voice commands via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.
