CES 2025: LG joins the Copilot + PC train with new Gram laptops in 2025

Surprisingly, LG was not on the list of manufacturers out of the gate to partner with Microsoft on its lists of Copilot + PCs branded devices, but in 2025 the company joins the marketing effort with new Gram laptops announced at CES 2025.

LG will expand its Gram-branded laptops with AI-led Copilot + PCs features found in Windows with the addition of the Gram, Gram Pro, Gram Pro 2-in-1 and the Gram Book. As with all LG Gram devices, the updated and additional laptops will be among the thinnest in the industry but will also sport LG’s new AI-powered Gram Chat.

On top of users getting access to Microsoft’s Copilot AI chat, LG fans will also have support from Gram Chat that runs locally on device to help subvert any gaps in connectivity. LG’s own EXAONE large language model partly powers Gram Chat when offline but bolstered by GPT-4o when connected to the internet.

In another, duplicated move, LG will also give users access to a new Time Travel feature that works like Microsoft’s AI-powered search feature, Recall.

Time Travel allows users to revisit sites, documents, and media, in a more intuitive, and streamlined interface.

The 16-inch Gram Pro is the flagship model, featuring an Intel Lunar Lake Core Ultra V-series processor, which supports CoPilot Plus functionality. The 17-inch and 2-in-1 models use an Intel Arrow Lake Core Ultra-H series processor, which, while not as impressive, still offers benefits for AI applications.

Unfortunately, the LG Gram Book 2025 is less appealing due to its older Core i5 processor and other disappointing specs. It weighs 3.74 pounds, over a pound heavier than the 16-inch Gram Pro. This is also slightly heavier than the 15.3-inch MacBook Air M3, which weighs 3.5 pounds and is thinner at 0.45 inches compared to the LG Gram Book 2025’s 0.74 inches. The lightest of the new Gram laptops weighs 2.73 pounds, the same as the 13-inch MacBook Air M3, but is slightly thicker at 0.49 inches compared to Apple’s 0.44 inches.

The performance and pricing of these new machines compared to Apple’s offerings remain to be seen. The LG Gram Pro 2-in-1 2024 models had starting prices of $1,399 and $1,799, depending on whether you chose LCD or OLED screens.
