Spotify is rolling out new conversational experiences for its Premium subscribers. Spotify says the experience will help you shape your music, understand what’s playing, and explore your listening history, all by just asking. Users will be able to type or speak directly to the Spotify assistant from the home screen or the Now Playing view on mobile.
Whether you know exactly what tune you’re looking for or if you’re just building your vibe as you go, Spotify can now respond to conversational-style prompts. You can ask for artists you haven’t heard before, specific musicians, or just narrow things down to recent releases.
While your favorite content is playing, you can dig deeper by asking questions about songs, artists, genres, and even podcasts or audiobooks. Spotify can explain the inspirations behind a project’s release dates and other content by the same artist. Because Spotify understands your listening habits, it can answer questions about your personal likes, even when you first played a track or what you’ve recently listened to.
This conversational approach is a part of the ongoing effort yo make the app and experience more personal. The feature is rolling out slowly in beta for Premium users ages 18+ in the US, Ireland, and Sweden on iOS and Android.
