Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has just received a significant update, and it’s set to revolutionize the way simmers interact with the game. The latest update introduces the highly anticipated in-sim Marketplace, bringing a host of new features and improvements that will enhance the overall flight simulation experience.
The in-sim Marketplace is now available, and it should be an exciting day for both creators and simmers. Thousands of items from the MSFS 2020 Marketplace have been ported into MSFS 2024 and are available in the “My Library” section. While most content is disabled by default, users can enable it at their discretion. Content sold by Microsoft and Asobo is enabled by default, and any purchased content becomes enabled automatically.
To provide more context on the content shown in “My Library” and its compatibility with MSFS 2024, there are three different states of content based on creator feedback:
- Not Creator Approved: Indicates that the creator tested the content and found it incompatible or has not yet confirmed its compatibility.
- Not Available: Indicates that the content owned in MSFS 2020 has not been successfully ported to MSFS 2024 and is therefore unavailable.
- No Tag: Indicates that the creator has confirmed the content is compatible with MSFS 2024.
Introducing Simverse Coins
One of the standout features of the new Marketplace is the introduction of Simverse Coins. Users can now purchase content in the in-sim Marketplace using Simverse Coins, which can be bought directly in the Marketplace or at select retailers for Windows Store or Xbox users. Prices will be displayed in both Simverse Coins and local currency, giving users the flexibility to choose their preferred payment method.
Upgrades and Compatibility
Content that has been ported from MSFS 2020 to MSFS 2024 and is available for sale in the Marketplace will include an MSFS 2020 logo in the upper left corner of the thumbnail image. Creators have the option to upgrade their ported content to optimize it for MSFS 2024. These upgrades can be provided for free or at an additional cost, and users will receive notifications in the simulator when free upgrades are available.
While the Marketplace is already packed with exciting features, there are more to come. The renting and gifting features are not yet available but are planned for release with Sim Update 2 in April. Additionally, users may experience a crash when accessing the Wallet tab in the Marketplace, and the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft from Microsoft/Working Title has a content package update that will be released soon.
The new in-sim Marketplace in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 could be seen as a game-changer, offering a seamless and immersive experience for both creators and simmers. With the introduction of Simverse Coins, enhanced compatibility, and future features on the horizon, the flight simulation community has so much to look forward to.
