Fable 2026 Release: Xbox Studio Boss Explains the Delay

Ah, the video game industry—a realm where delays are as common as microtransactions in a free-to-play game. Xbox’s latest contribution to this ever-entertaining saga comes with the announcement that the long-awaited Fable has been pushed back to 2026.

Xbox Studios head Craig Duncan, on an episode of the official Xbox podcast, delivered this morsel of disappointment. With a hefty dose of corporate optimism, Duncan assured us that the wait would be “definitely worth it.” Because, of course, what’s a couple more years between friends when it comes to a game first announced in 2020?

But, let’s give Duncan some credit. His unwavering confidence in Playground Games—the team behind the beloved Forza Horizon series—does paint a hopeful picture. “If you think about their history and legacy for Forza Horizon—the last two games critically acclaimed…and just what they’re bringing to Fable as a franchise, just think of the visuals of what you expect of Playground Games plus amazing gameplay,” he said.

So, there you have it. Another year, another delay. But, hey, at least we’ll get to experience what Duncan calls the “most beautifully realized version of Albion” players have ever seen, whenever that might be.

In the meantime, let’s add this to the ever-growing list of gaming delays and broken release promises. Maybe, just maybe, by 2026, we’ll be playing Fable. Until then, let’s keep dreaming and hoping. And perhaps enjoy a laugh or two at the industry’s endless loop of delays.

Let us know what you think of this latest delay in the comments below. Because if there’s one thing the gaming industry can guarantee, it’s that the wait never ends.

Happy waiting, fellow gamers!
