Gamescom 2025 Opens August 20 and Xbox Live-Streams Behind-the-Scenes Content

Gamescom 2025 is set to ignite Cologne, Germany, starting today through August 24. After a two-year absence from the Koelnmesse show floor, Xbox is taking over Hall 8 with over 20 playable titles, unique photo ops, and community-driven events designed to bring fans closer to the games and hardware they love.

Gamescom 2025 transforms Cologne’s Koelnmesse into the ultimate playground for Xbox fans. This year, the Xbox booth in Hall 7 (North entrance) will showcase over 20 games from first-party studios and third-party partners across more than 120 gaming stations, plus photo opportunities, community activations, and surprise experiences.

First-party highlights include Grounded 2’s shrunken co-op survival adventure from Obsidian and Eidos Montreal, and Ninja Gaiden 4’s first public combat demo, where legacy meets high-octane style. MachineGames and Lucasfilm Games bring Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to life with a mummified-cat puzzle contest and themed photo booth, while World’s Edge returns with Age of Empires and Age of Mythology: Retold, teasing new surprises for strategists old and new.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 drops a major city update, a fan-favorite aircraft, and unique piloting challenges, and The Outer Worlds 2 gets its theater presentation—step into Protectorate territory for an exclusive look at the Tomb of the Matriarch and explore a society that trades freedom for security.

On the third-party front, playable demos span Borderlands 4, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Final Fantasy XVI, EA Sports FC 26, PowerWash Simulator 2, Super Meat Boy 3D, Cronos: The New Dawn, and more, plus a few unannounced surprises from global partners.

Gamescom will also celebrate the World of Warcraft community with a dedicated Hall 8 booth unveiling the Midnight expansion and WoW’s first Housing system. Swing by the Community Stage for developer panels, creator meet-and-greets, esports showdowns, cosplays, and full VoDs of every session after they wrap.

Don’t miss Opening Night Live on August 19, where Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 premieres alongside the Midnight expansion cinematic. Then join Xbox FanFest and the “Xbox @ gamescom Broadcast: Live From the Showfloor” streams on August 20 and 21 for interviews, behind-the-scenes tours, and surprise reveals.

Hardware Showcases and Exclusive Experiences

Beyond games, Xbox is spotlighting cutting-edge hardware. Attendees can go head-to-head with the new ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X handhelds, comparing performance modes and battery life in real time. Nearby, the ASUS ROG pavilion is said to be hosting curated game lineups and deep-dive hardware demos, giving PC gaming enthusiasts a full-sensory ROG experience.

If you can’t jet over to Germany, Xbox has you covered. On August 20 and 21, tune into “Xbox @ gamescom Broadcast: Live From the Showfloor” for live interviews, behind-the-scenes tours, and surprise trailers. And for the first time in a decade, Xbox FanFest returns as a digital celebration, uniting global communities with exclusive merch drops, developer Q&As, and virtual meet-ups happening throughout the week.

From August 20 to 24, Cologne becomes the epicenter of what’s next in gaming, bridging home setups and on-the-go play in one immersive showcase.
