Gemini for macOS adds voice features

Google is rolling out a major upgrade for Gemini users on macOS. It introduces new voice-powered creation, editing, and summarization tools to keep you locked into your workflow. With a simple long press of the Fn key, users can speak naturally into any window on their desktop.

Gemini by default will provide intelligent dictation that cleans up speech, automatically removing those extra words and catching those mid-sentence corrections, dropping polished text right at the cursor. Users can opt into Gemini reasoning, unlocking a deeper understanding of what’s on their screen.

Once unlocked, you’ll be able to extract and summarize information from highlighted images, files, or documents. You’ll be able to compose or rewrite text, and generate and edit images.

These new voice capabilities are rolling out globally to Gemini for macOS users in English, with more languages to follow. You can access this now on the web at gemini.google/mac.
