If you love software development, then May 2025 is the month for you. Microsoft has already announced its developer conference Build for May; now, Google is following up with Google I/O for the same month. Google has announced the two-day event for May 20th and 21st.
Some developers may not be able to attend both conferences at once as the two overlap this year, with Microsoft choosing May 19th-22nd as well. You can see the event in person at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California, or stream it online. You could break out the multiple monitors this year and catch both online.
This year’s event is expected to be AI-focused, with updates to Gemini, Android 16, better known as Baklava, and Wear OS. A VR headset could be unveiled, and Google is looking to get its Google XR platform a boost.
While neither Google nor Microsoft has announced specific sessions and timeslots yet, we’re excited to see what they have in store.
