Gunnar might be the only company at CES 2024 this year, not talking about AI, but that doesn’t mitigate the value of their announcements at the convention.
Fortunately for GUNNAR, every new transparent screen, OLED panel, 165Hz refresh rate screen, and AI powered infotainment unit showcased at CES this year can be paired with one of the company’s new lenses. On Tuesday, Gunnar rolled out its 2024 lineup of clinically proven and doctor recommended Gunnar Optiks lenses that now include new lens material, new tint technology and an expanded list of collaborative partners.
Gunnar’s 2024 lens will make use of the company’s mineral glass development starting in the first half of the year. While Gunnar believes mineral glass is the future of its optics technology, it will continue to sell its polycarbonate and nylon offerings for the time being alongside its latest developments. The benefits of mineral glass technology come from an enhanced scratch-resistance protection and a distortion-free viewing experience.
As a byproduct of Gunnar’s focus on reducing digital eye strain, fatigue and dry eye with its glasses, its most notable amber tinting technology will be adding an additional variant for professionals looking to use clearer lenses at work and play. Gunnar’s new Clear Pro tinted lenses will expand upon the company’s previous Clear tint technology to offer a clearer offering at the expense of 15% blue light protection.

Clear Pro lenses will do away with the amber tint Gunnar lenses are familiar for having but offer a clearer lens for professionals who need to have unobstructed access to wider color gamut’s for editing, graphic design, video content creation, and other projects.
Clear Pro lenses will now be offered with Gunnar’s Palomar, Pismo, and Pacifica frames starting February 14, 2024.
Moving past Gunnar’s new lens technology, the company is diving back into its collaboration bag to bring a pair of lenses inspired by Japanese lifestyle brand tokidoki for its new ‘Year of the Dragon’ lenses project. The Year of the Dragon lenses will be available in Cotton Candy Pink, Dountella, and Sandy starting on April 10, 2024.

For those unfamiliar with tokidoki as I was, it can mean ‘sometimes’ in Japanese but is a lifestyle brand created by Italian artist Simone Legno and business partners Pooneh Mohajer and Ivan Arnolds back in 2006. Tokidoki went on to become a niche hit with its cavalcade of characters like the Cactus Friends, Donutella, and Moofia, among others. Tokidoki art has been applied to products that range from apparel, footwear, and accessories to devices and more and will now be part of Gunnar’s eyewear lineup.
Another notable 2024 collaboration for Gunnar is with Blizzards Overwatch game that results in a pair of frames donning the iconic black and orange color scheme for its Overwatch Ultimate frames as well as a special D.Va Tokki Collector’s Edition set that blends the blue and purple colors of the characters signature jumpsuit.

Gunnar is also doubling its efforts with Marvel to present a new Groot inspired wood frame, as well as new Deadpool and Wolverine themed lenses ahead of the hotly anticipated Deadpool 3 movie release as well as the X-Men ’97 animated series on Disney Plus. The Groot inspired frames will launch alongside Gunnar’s enviornmentaly friendly and sustainably sourced Arbor Collection on March 19, 2024.
While there isn’t much info on the Deadpool frame offerings just yet, the Wolverine collaboration will come with both an ‘Uncanny’ blue and yellow colorway on top of a stainless-steel frame partially wrapped in Nylon while the ‘Adamantium’ versions will have a fully exposed stainless-steel design. Marvel fans can expect the Deadpool and Wolverine frames on June 26, 2024, and a third character collaborative project involving The Punisher sometime in the first half of 2024.

Gunnar will maintain its slew of current collaborative frames as well for fans of Marvel’s Loki, Ironman, Spider-man or gaming franchises Call of Duty, Diablo, Assassin’s Creed, World of Warcraft, and Rainbow Six.
Coming back down to earth, Gunnar was also immensely proud to announce its more professional release of its Cupertino glasses. The business casual Cupertino frames feature an acetate frame material, flexible spring hinges, G-shield premium lens coating, a low bridge for comfort and interchangeable magnetic lens inserts.

The Cupertino will support all four lens tints available from Gunnar that include Amber, Amber Max, Sun and Clear and should be on shelves as early as January 10, 2024, starting at $175.
Gunnar also announced a handful of other stylish frames such as its wooden Humboldt and Muir glasses, and its magnesium-aluminum alloy Plaid etched frames which will all be available the first half of 2024.
