New for this year is the Lenovo Legion “Coldfront: Hyper” thermal solution, available on the Lenovo Legion 7i and Lenovo Legion 5i. This is a completely new thermal solution that has fully reinvented the path that air takes through the chassis when cooling the laptop. Hot air from the chips is forced through a channel-like hyperbaric chamber in the center of the laptop. The bottom D-cover is designed to prevent hot air exhausting out the back vent from mixing with the cold air being pulled in by the dual fans, optimizing heat exchange and keeping the laptops’ hardware cooler and the framerates higher. This results in a max output of 175W in Extreme Mode on the thinner Lenovo Legion 7i, and up to 190W max TDP on the Lenovo Legion 5i.
All Lenovo Legion Pro 7i (16”, 9) laptops this year feature Coldfront: Vapor chamber thermals regardless of the configuration, allowing the up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU max out at a total of 250W TDP in Extreme Mode. The Coldfront thermals in Lenovo Legion Pro 5i (16”, 9) laptops let the up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPUs breathe with a max output of 215W TDP in Extreme Mode. Performance is pushed even further thanks to the combination of Lenovo AI chips on Lenovo Legion Pro 7i laptops and the LA1 chip on Legion Pro 5i laptops.
Next-generation Intel CPUs and the new proprietary LA AI chips power all of these systems. These chips will be used to balance both power for every FPS as well as power efficiency This year, Lenovo is also offering gaming peripherals such as the M410 Wireless RGB Gaming Mouse and the Legion K510 Pro Mini Keyboard.
