Lenovo introduced its Android and Windows hybrid tablet computer during CES 2024 back in January and it now looks like the device is jumping from concept demo to finally hitting store shelves.
According to a report from VideoCardz, the Lenovo ThinkBook Gen 5 Hybrid has been spotted in retail offerings in China for roughly $2,200. The Surface-like 2-in-1 convertible combines both popular Android and Windows operating systems in a unique UX style that strives to generate two distinct interfaces depending on the hardware’s orientation.
However, users can opt for mixed use of the Android OS in desktop mode or Windows in tablet mode as the ThinkBook Gen 5 intelligently leverages a pool of shared specs.
To accommodate the dual boot nature of the device, Lenovo packed the ThinkBook Gen 5 with an Intel Core Ultra 7 H processor, 1TB of SSD storage, 32GB of RAM, and 75Wh battery in the base keyboard while the 14-inch OLED Android tablet screen comes with its own Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, 12GB of memory, 256GB of storage and 38Wh battery of its own.
Thanks to the beefier hardware specs stuffed into the ThinkBook Gen 5 Hybrid, the device can serve in extended use cases that include digital canvas, separate Windows desktop and Android tablet experiences simultaneously, and more.
Lenovo hasn’t zeroed in on a date for the Gen 5 Hybrid’s release to additional regions, so it’s going to be slow going for real-world implementation and performance reviews, but its North American website does say the flexible station and tablet are ‘coming soon.’
