If you’re a Microsoft Edge user you may have noticed a change in your browser bar a few days ago. Instead of seeing Microsoft Start you may have saw a former Microsoft brand, MSN. According to our friends over at Windows Central Microsoft is reviving the old brand with a fresh new look. Microsoft went to the Microsoft Start branding in 2021, but never got rid of the MSN branding completely, just redirected you to Microsoftstart.com and Start.com. Now you’ll notice everything doing the opposite, and going to the msn.com branding.
MSN is a long standing Microsoft brand that launched in 1995 alongside the MSN dialup service, you might remember Microsoft venturing into set top boxes with MSN TV. Microsoft kept MSN tightly integrated into its operating systems with both Windows 10 and Windows 11 featuring the news widget.
Microsoft hasn’t stated if they intend to rebrand the mobile apps as well, but it’s clear they are being served with MSN content.
