Microsoft is aiming to make handheld devices more gamer-centric by simplifying some of the complexities of the Windows 11 operating system. To achieve this goal, the new Xbox Experience for handhelds was born. When you power on your Xbox Ally, you’ll be greeted with a full-screen Xbox experience, not the traditional Windows 11 experience.
This experience prioritizes your gaming experience by minimizing background activity and deferring essential background tasks until later, making more system resources available for your games. The Xbox Ally will feature the Xbox button, providing quick access to chat, apps, and settings via the Game Bar overlay.
The contoured grips of the Xbox Ally offer the same comfort and feel as the Xbox wireless controllers, suitable for any hand size. Accessibility features have also been factored in, bringing familiar accessibility controls from Xbox consoles to Windows PCs. You’ll also be able to access your favorite games from all of your online stores through a new aggregated gaming library, giving you access to Steam, Battle.net, Game Pass, and more. You’ll also have access to your gaming companion Gaming Copilot through either Xbox Ally handheld.
