Microsoft is laying off hundreds who work on Azure

Microsoft has been laying off employees since last year. The most recent one was two of its smaller video game divisions last month. Today, Business Insider is reporting the Azure cloud division will be the next target on the layoff list. Those familiar with the layoffs cited Azue for Operators, the targeted division, and up to 1,500 workers could be impacted.

Azure for Operators and Mission Engineering teams are part of a group created in 2021, led by Jason Zander, former Azure leader. This division works in the quantum computing space and government-run cloud businesses. Layoffs are more common for companies this time of year who have a physical year ending on June 30th. Unfortunately, layoffs have become a staple in the tech industry.
