Microsoft lays off 1,900 employees in the latest round of cuts

Unfortunately, we thought the layoffs might be over and left behind with 2023, but that’s not true. Microsoft is laying off another 1,900 employees from the Activision Blizzard and Xbox divisions. While most layoffs come from the Activision Blizzard side, some Xboz and ZeniMax employees are impacted.

The cuts account for roughly eight percent of the Microsoft gaming division, which employs roughly 22,000 people. Now that the Activision Blizzard merger is complete, Blizzard president Mike Ybarra has also left the company. Mike also spent more than 20 years at Microsoft. Microsoft is expected to name a new Blizzard president sometime next week. Allen Adham, the chief design officer and a Blizzard cofounder, has also left the company.

Survival Game has also been canceled as Microsoft begins shifting employees to work on other early-development projects. It’s been a rough month for layoffs; Google, Twitch, and Discord are just a few that have also let workers go this month.
