For customers looking for even mobility from Microsoft’s new beefed up mobile processor powered Surface devices need wait longer as the company is now selling its 5G enabled Surface Pro 11 via its commercial channels.
Earlier this year, Microsoft unveiled its new Snapdragon X Elite powered Surface upgrades with the Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7. However, the company was short on details as to when it would offer 5G enabled versions or devices to enterprise buyers through its commercial channels beyond saying ‘later this year.’
Fortunately, it looks like it will only be a little over two months between the release of the consumer versions of its latest Surface devices and those dubbed ‘for business’ by Microsoft.
Starting September 10,2024, enterprise customers can snag a Surface Pro 11 for business that offers 5G enabled configurations with 16GB of RAM, 256 GB of SSD storage and beefier X Elite chip options. On the Surface Laptop 7 side customers will get similar configurations as those offered to consumers which means no 5G.
Since these ‘for business’ models are intended for commercial use, the colorway options have been scaled back to the Black and Platinum colors. Another commercial only purchasing note is that in select markets devices may or may not come with power adapters. The lack of a power adapter could be a sign of investments in universal docks or USB-C power cables.
The Surface Pro 11 ‘for business’ models will start at $1,399 and can reach $1,900 on the higher end, while the Surface Laptop 7 ‘for business’ starts as low as $1,099.
