Starfield Space suit contest

Microsoft’s popular 2023 first party exclusive Xbox title Starfield is about to go to become a more immersive experience with a new contest to help fans suit up with a real-life custom-made spacesuit while playing.

Thanks to a partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA), Microsoft is opening a new contest to award the winners with Starfield Limited Edition Xbox Series X, controller, headset, and a fabricated spacesuit based on their own design.

Whether using a provided template as a base, or pushing their imagination to the limit with any creative format of their choice, fans will be asked to provide both a visual illustration of the suit from all sides—hand-drawn, 3D-rendered, or however their vision sees fit—as well as a description of the inspiration of the suit. More specifically, Xbox, Bethesda and the ESA want to know what you would wear in outer space – how would your spacesuit reflect your personal style, individuality, and vision for space travel?

For those interested, the Bethesda team is using the campaign webpage to funnel all submissions starting today and ending on February 24,2024 at 8pm Pacific Time. Once a winning suit is chosen, a team from the 22-member state ESA will take the next two months to fabricate a semi-functional but fully authentic spacesuit based on the winning design.

To get started, the Starfield team does provide a Starfield Space suit template that offers a scaled human silhouette, close cut out sections, and an area for designer notes.

Submissions can come through as a myriad of file types that include PDF, JPEG, PNG, or PPT but must not exceed 10MB and all images must be “static”.
