Microsoft streamlines its Xbox App UI in latest preview

The Xbox app on Windows is getting a bit of a makeover in the latest preview for Insiders that introduces a new Home experience that better highlights PC games alongside Featured Content, and Deals and Discounts.

Earlier this week, the Xbox team announced the roll out of the updated Xbox for Windows app which recieved a few tweaks under the Home tab that should make it easier to get to the “latest content from both the Game Pass and Microsoft Store tabs.”

The new Xbox Home experience combines content from both Game Pass and the Microsoft Store while also organizing much of it above the fold to reduce the amount of scrolling gamers will need to do to sort through games, news, algorithmic recommendations, free-to-play games, and deals for the day, week, or month.

Featured content. At-a-glance view for you stay up to date on exciting game releases, new events, content available with Game Pass, sales, and more!

Deals and discounts. No more navigating through the app to find the latest deals and discounts. The new Home will now have collections with the best deals and discounts to make sure you can see available savings at a glance.

Curated collections and recommendations. Find games that are perfect for you with collections curated and personalized for you. Spend less time searching and more time playing games.

The Xbox team is also bringing over its ‘Jump back in’ mode from its handheld software gaming efforts. Windows Insiders will now be able to test the ability to shift from the game hub to their current game play while in Compact Mode on the desktop.

After exploring the new features and UI of the Xbox app, the developer team is encouraging users to take a ‘2-minute’ survey to offer their feedback on the proposed changes. If surveys are not their jam, users can also join the Xbox Insider subreddit to engage with official Xbox staff, moderators, and other Xbox Insiders to offer their opinions in a more conversational atmosphere.

Other avenues of engaging with the Xbox team include following them on social media at @XboxInsider on Twitter.
