Microsoft is ready for you to move to Microsoft Teams 2.0 if you haven’t already. Earlier this year, Microsoft announced it would give companies more time to migrate to Teams 2.0, at least until July 1, 2024. Now that date is just around the corner, Microsoft has updated its Classic client’s timeline.
On a Teams Support Page, Microsoft has noted it has started notifying users with banners and notifications that it will stop receiving support on July 1, 2024. Updates and patches will also stop after that. You can still use the app after July 1, 2024, but you will get further notification that support has ended for the Classic version. If you’re on an older operating system, Mac or Windows, you can expect the app to stop working on October 23, 2024. The web version will be available if you’re still hanging on to the old version. The end date for those on current operating systems is July 1, 2025.
