While there isn’t much in the way of development for the standalone web app version of Planner, the variant embedded in Teams just received a handful of new features.
Microsoft just updated its company’s Planner blog with an entry that covers the latest round of features coming to the app specifically tailored for use with its enterprise chat service, Teams, which includes labels visible in Grid view, accessibility improvements, and bug fixes for the ‘My Day’ page.
Digging into some of the specifics, Teams users will now find that while using Planner they should be able to categorize and organize a bit easier with the new labels column that is now visible in Grid view. Sorting and filtering tasks should feel more intuitive when utilizing Planners Grid view as more options are plainly visible.

“We’ve commonly heard this feature request from customers and hope this feature makes it easier for you to track progress and manage your projects. Try it out by navigating to Grid view for any basic plan and selecting “Add label” for any task in the Labels column. You can edit the name of the label by selecting the label on the task, and filter by label to get a more granular view of your plan.”

On the note of accessible features, the Planner team also addressed some more specific accessibility request with a plan to add keyboard support for editing due dates and other editing features that previously required the use of a mouse or trackpad to navigate. The narrator feature will correctly read selected values for tasks priority and progress fields soon.
The last bit of improvements Planner for Teams is seeing are bug fixes to ‘My Day’ that affected the way To-Do tasks were interacting with Planner for Teams. User feedback pointed out an issue where tasks assigned in Microsoft’s To-Do app were not properly shown or addressed in Planner for Teams. Going forward, there should be no issue between how To-Do and Planner work alongside each.
As usual, Microsoft ends its Planner update post encouraging users to leave feedback to help inform the company of features and fixes it can work on to optimize its app, via the Planner Feedback Portal.
