MWC 2025 Spotlight: Qualcomm X85 and X82 Set New Benchmarks for 5G Performance

Barcelona, March 3, 2025 – At this year’s Mobile World Congress, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. announced two game-changing 5G modem-to-antenna solutions: the Qualcomm® X85 5G Modem-RF and the Qualcomm® X82 5G Modem-RF.

The Qualcomm X85, the eighth-generation 5G Modem-RF and fourth-generation AI-powered 5G platform, is looking to push the boundaries of connectivity. Packed with an integrated Qualcomm® 5G AI Processor, the X85 delivers numerous industry-leading 5G performance metrics, including exceptional speeds, extended coverage, improved user experiences, enhanced location accuracy, and improved spectrum utilization. Its advanced architecture heralds the adoption of 5G Advanced technology across diverse device categories, from smartphones and PCs to fixed wireless access and industrial gateways.

Durga Malladi, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Technology Planning & Edge Solutions, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., expressed the company’s commitment to innovation:

Qualcomm X85 is the world’s most advanced AI-enhanced modem, and the best smartphones in the world use Qualcomm modems. On our 40th anniversary, it’s fitting to celebrate our legacy of wireless innovation with this revolutionary platform. High-performance 5G is the foundation of making AI even better, and our modem-RF innovations uniquely position us as leaders in this new era of connected intelligence.

Joining the lineup is the Qualcomm X82, a highly optimized solution designed to drive mainstream adoption of mobile broadband applications. With support for multi-Gigabit download and upload speeds, the X82 addresses a wide range of use cases, making 5G capabilities accessible to more industries and users worldwide.

Both platforms come with M.2 and LGA reference designs, aimed at accelerating the development of next-gen devices in segments like Customer Premises Equipment (CPEs), mobile broadband (MBB), PCs, and consumer electronics. Sampling for customers is already underway, with commercial devices expected to debut in the latter half of 2025.

Qualcomm X85 and X82 represent not only a leap in 5G innovation but ride on the back of its relatively successful X Elite PC chipset for consumer markets. To explore further details, visit the Qualcomm X85 product page.
