Netflix takes the wraps off of new customer experience

We’ve heard a lot of news about Netflix leading the way on the sharing account crackdown over the past year, and now we’re hearing about changes to the Netflix customer experience. Chief Product Officer Eunice Kim and Chief Technology Officer Elizabeth Stone unwrapped the new experience coming soon to a screen near you.

This new refreshed TV experience is designed to be more intuitive and user-friendly as Netflix seeks to merge cutting-edge tech with new ways of entertainment.

Key Updates

  • – Easier Discovery: More relevant information about titles such as Emmy Award Winner, or number one in TV Shows will be front and center.
  • – Better shortcuts, Search and My List will be moving to the top of the screen for improved visibility
  • – Better Recommendations: the homepage will adapt dynamically to users’ moods and preferences
  • – A more updated modern design to enhance the overall streaming experience

Mobile Enhancements

  • – An AI-powered search feature on iOS lets users search with more natural conversational phrasing.
  • – Netflix is adopting the ever popular vertical feed to help users find content more easily.

Stone wrapped up the presentation with the following and a look back on the history of Netflix platform innovation.

What’s most exciting to me is how our new TV experience gives us the ability to evolve and innovate more easily going forward. That’s how we’re going to make the Netflix people know even better. And it’s how we’ll continue to connect them with even more shows, movies and games they’ll love.

Netflix didn’t give a release day but says expect these features to begin to roll out in the coming weeks.
