Nvidia will soon be putting ads in the GeForce Now free tier

The free tier of Geforce Now is about to get a little less attractive. The Verge reports that starting March 5th, Nvidia will begin inserting advertisements in its free tier. These ads can last as long as two minutes and are said not to interrupt your gameplay. Nvidia followed other service-oriented companies when it increased prices outside the US in October.

Nvidia says these ads will not come to any paid service plans. The hope is to shorten the waiting period for the free tier and use the advertisements to help pay the bill. Some customers have already received notification of the upcoming changes.

The free plan is very entry-level and by no means shows off the full potential of GeForce Now. You don’t get an RTX 4080 or G-SYNC support. It’s been mentioned that a $ 7.99-day pass might be offered, though it’s not been seen. I’d rather have a full-functioning free trial and stand a better chance of subscribing to the service than a free tier. What do you think? Please leave it in the comments below.
