Amazon is rolling out a major update to its Prime Video service on April 10th 2026, 2026. The current ad-free tier will become Prime Video Ultra, and yes, it comes with another subscription. For $4.99 per month.
The new Ultra option adds several upgraded features; you’ll be able to enjoy five concurrent streams, 100 offline downloads, 4K, and Dolby Atmos. The trend is that if you’ve got a nice home theatre, paying for a quality stream to enjoy it will cost you extra cash. Amazon says the shift reflects the rising cost to provide an ad-free streaming experience and keeps the core Prime Video experience included in your Prime membership.
Prime Video Ultra requires either your Amazon Prime membership or a standalone Prime Video subscription. Annual Prome members can get the Ultra annual plan for $45.99 a 23 percent disount off the monthly rate. Your content doesn’t change you still get your Prime exclusives such as Fallout, Reacher, The Boys, and more. You still also get the exclusive sports content from the NFL, NBA, NASCAR, The Masters, and more. The bottom line is, more downloads, concurrent streams, and a 4K viewing experience, assuming you have the hardware, is what you get here.
