We’ve had laptops based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon specification for awhile now and by and large it’s safe to say they’ve been successful and feedback has been positive for the most part. We’ve been waiting to see who would make the first move in the desktop market and use the Snapdragon CPU. Originally the first offering was set to come from Qualcomm directly via a developer kit but that project got the axe a few months ago.
According to videocardz.com, Geekom, which is known for its offerings in the mini PC market, is looking to change that and plans to produce the first mini PC with the Snapdragon X Elite processor. This would be the first offering using the CPU by a mini PC maker.
We don’t know anything else about the device; at the time of this posting, there’s no mention of the device on the Geekom website. Pricing may be what determines if the device makes it on the marker; we’ll just have to wait and see when the device comes and what it’s price point might be.
