Samsung unveils the Z Fold6 and the Z Flip6, the next generation of foldable phones

It doesn’t seem like it’s been that long since the first generation, but we’re in year six and now the sixth generation of the Samsung Foldable lineup. Today, Samsung announced updates to the Z Fold6 and the Z Flip6. If you’re a Z Fold user, the most commonly requested feature gets a little better: the outer screen. Samsung pushed back the bezels to make the outer screen more friendly for everyday use, such as scrolling social media apps and video consumption. The outer screen is 6.3 inches with a resolution of 2,376 x 9,68, and a dynamic AMOLED 2X display comes in with a 120hz display.

Inside, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 CPU powers the experience, flanked by 12GB of RAM and storage options up to 1TB. The 4,400mAh battery also supports wireless charging. For photo takers, a 10MP sensor is on the outside display, and a 4MP sensor is under the display for quick selfies. There’s a three-camera array on the rear: a main 50MP shooter, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 50MP telephoto.

The phone comes in three colors: Silver, Shadow Pink, and Navy. It will cost $1,899.99, up slightly from last year. You can preorder today; the devices will go on sale on July 26th.

If you prefer a flip phone, the Z Flip6 is for you. It has a 6.7-inch main display with a resolution of 2,640 x 1,080 at 120hz and a folded display of 720 x 748. The outer display is mainly just for notifications and quick reactions, so it’s only 60hz. The Flip6 also has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 CPU and 12GB of RAM. The Flip6 storage is 512GB, not 1TB like the Fold6. Powering the setup is a dual 4,000mAH battery. Three cameras in total keep your capture needs under control with a 10MP front camera, a 50MP main and a 12MP ultrawide. This year, the Z Flip 6 comes in Silver Shadow, Yellow, Blue, and a Mint color option. Preorders start today and come in at a starting price of $1,099.99.

Ordering either phone directly from Samsung.com will give you some additional color options: a peach color for the Flip6 and a Purity White and Craft Black for the Fold6.
