Spotify is rolling out new tools to strengthen trust across its podcasting ecosystem, giving creators cleaner ways to verify their identities and helping listeners know exactly who they are listening to.
The new Verified by Spotify program is expanding into podcasting with a badge featuring a light green checkmark that will confirm the show represents an official presence for a creator, publisher, and/or brand. The rollout begins today and will expand over the coming months. Eligibility focuses on consistent listener engagement, compliance with Spotify’s Platform, Policies, and verified, non-fraudulent audience activity. Spotify promises that as the content landscape continues to change, the policy will as well.
With AI making it easier to clone voices and mimic popular content creators, Spotify is reinforcing its long-standing ban on unauthorized impersonation. The company has said it will remove shows or episodes that use AI or any method to imitate another creator or likeness without permission. This update builds on existing reporting tools to ensure content creators have control of their content and their identity.
Podcasting relies on the relationship between listener and podcaster. These updates are just the first step in a larger plan to ensure everyone is safe, the platform is trustworthy, and it is genuine.
