They’ve talked about it for years, and now Spotify Premium members are finally getting lossless audio. The other perk comes at no additional cost. Better music quality has been one of the top requests from Spotify users. It’s worth noting that the request is worth it as Amazon and Apple have been offering spatial audio for some time.
Lossless audio will be available on mobile devices, desktops, and sound bars such as Bose, Sony, and Samsung. You can enable the setting by going to Settings, Privacy, and then Media Quality. It’s worth noting that users will need to enable it on all of their devices. For the best experience, Spotify recommends a Wi-Fi-connected device and a wired set of headphones or speakers, not Bluetooth connections. This might be challenging for some, as mobile devices have chosen size and weight over ports, thus eliminating the need for a headphone jack.
“The wait is finally over; we’re so excited lossless sound is rolling out to Premium subscribers,” said Gustav Gyllenhammar, VP Subscriptions, Spotify. “We’ve taken time to build this feature in a way that prioritizes quality, ease of use, and clarity at every step, so you always know what’s happening under the hood. With Lossless, our premium users will now have an even better listening experience.”
