Surface Copilot + PCs receive updated Snapdragon graphics drivers

Qualcomm just released updated graphics drivers for Copilot + PCs branded Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro 11 that are meant to improve their marketed AI performance.

The news of the updated drivers was delivered via Qualcomm’s Developer Blog where the company highlights some of the benefits coming to Snapdragon X Elite powered Surface devices such as improvements that better support Microsoft’s Direct Machine Learning (DirectML) runtime. As a result of the boost in DirectML improvements, apps that leverage real-time hardware acceleration for low-latency apps should present smoother experiences as well as experiences that depend on machine learning.

Games, rendering engines, and middleware that depend on DirectML support are not the only things getting updated, the improved GPU drivers should also address corruption instances with the native Davinci Fusion support, as well as crashes occurring in Adobe After Effects.

Gamers will also see some improvements across a host of games that include:

Game enablement and fixes.

You’ll find support for new games and fixes for existing games in titles such as these:

  • Baldur’s Gate
  • Strange Brigade
  • Black Myth: Wukong Benchmark Tool
  • Ark Survival Ascended
  • Dying Light2

Game performance

Several titles now run better because of improvements like higher frames per second:

  • God of War
  • Hogwarts Legacy
  • Diablo 4
  • Grand Theft Auto V (GTAV)
  • Forge of Empires
  • World War Z

Qualcomm’s GPU update can be grabbed directly from developers registered with Qualcomm today.

Once you’ve installed the driver, try running:

  • models in Qualcomm AI Hub via DirectML otherwise, typical Microsoft users will need to wait for a
  • some of your favorite games listed above and in the release, notes mentioned in the driver package
  • selected WebNN developer preview models built around Microsoft DirectML

As for the average Surface user, they will need to wait until Microsoft pushes out its next firmware update that is increasingly looking like version 31.0.82.0, sometime later this year.
