Surface Laptop ditches Intel for Snapdragon processors

The new Surface Laptop is here! Microsoft has officially dumped Intel in its Surface Laptop lineup in favor of the Snapdragon X lineup of processors. The Surface Laptop is available in two sizes, a 13.8 inch and 15 inch, both an IPS touchscreen display rocking resolutions of 2,304 x 1,536 pixels and 2,496 x 1,664 pixels with a refresh rate of 120hz. There’s also HDR support. The 15-inch version is only available with the Snapdragon X Elite processor with 16GB or 32GB of RAM.

Microsoft says the new Qualcomm chips are 90 percent faster than the Surface Laptop 5 Intel variant. Microsoft also increased the battery life in both models, with the 13.8-inch model able to play video at 20 hours and the 15-inch model lasting a whopping 22 hours. Other changes also match that of the Surface Pro, including Wifi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Interestingly, the webcam is only 1080P, whereas the Surface Pro is 1440P. Windows Hello Studio Effects and two Dolby Atmos speakers are equipped.

The Surface Laptop is now available for pre-order in the Microsoft Store. The 13.8-inch version begins at $999 with a top price of $2,399, while the 15-inch starts at $1,299 and tops at 2,499. The colors are Black, Sapphire, and Dune.
