The Windows and Surface Teams are back together at Microsoft

The Microsoft house has been out of order since Panos Penay left last September and moved to Amazon. During some of the Microsoft events, it felt like some energy was missing. Today, Microsoft has put Pavan Davuluri in charge of Windows development and Surface hardware, bringing the divisions back together.

Once Penay left Microsoft, the Surface division went to Davuluri, and the Windows division went to Mikhail Parakhin. Parakhin led some of the web division’s products, such as Edge, Bing, and Copilot. Recently, however, Microsoft formed its own AI division, which consumed the products under Parakhin’s leadership. Parakhin is thought to be exploring other roles outside the company. The Verge got a copy of the internal memo that shared the news.

Back in September, when we didn’t see the Surface devices we were expecting introduced, there were some concerns about what might be going on inside the Surface division. Now that the teams are back together, we should see better, more integrated products for all. This is always a good thing for Windows fans.
