Valve Updates the Steam Deck

If you have been waiting for Valve to release an updated Steam Deck, then you don’t have to wait any longer. Today there is a new version of the popular handheld device. The upgrade is not performance-based, but there have been major improvements in other areas. Valve is keeping it simple by just calling the new device Steam Deck OLED, which gives you some idea of what the update is about.

Steam Deck version two comes with an HDR OLED screen, which packs a 90hz 7.4-inch screen, which is slightly larger than the 60hz version. Resolution remains the same at 1280 x 800. The new Steam Deck is slightly lighter than the first generation. Battery life might be a bit better with the new 50Whr batter, Valve hopes users see as much as 50 percent more battery life.

You do pay for the beauty of the OLED display, units start at $549 for the 512GB model and the 1TB model is $649. The 1TB version does come with antiglare etching on the screen. Customers in the U.S. and Canada can pay a little bit more and get the Limited Edition OLED Steam Deck with a carrying case and 1TB of storage. The Limited Edition Steam Deck starts at $679.
