Xbox App Update Unifies Gaming Libraries on Windows PCs and Handhelds

Xbox has just unveiled a major update to its app for Windows PCs and handhelds, and it’s a long-awaited step toward simplifying the PC gaming experience. The new version introduces a unified gaming library that aggregates titles from multiple storefronts, including Xbox Game Pass, Battle.net, and others, into a single streamlined interface.

With this update, any game installed from a supported storefront will now automatically appear in the Xbox app’s “My Library” and “Most Recent” sidebar. Whether you’re launching a Game Pass title or a third-party favorite, everything is accessible from one place. This eliminates the need to switch between apps or manually locate installations.

According to the official Xbox Wire announcement, the update was shaped by feedback from Xbox Insiders and broader community input:

“We’ve introduced several new features to enhance your gaming experience on Windows PCs and handhelds,” the team shared, highlighting the goal of making game discovery and access more intuitive.

For users who prefer a more curated experience, storefront integrations can be toggled off, allowing for a personalized and minimal view of your library.

The update also introduces a new tab in “My Library” that brings together third-party apps and storefronts. This means users can find, download, and launch games from multiple sources without leaving the Xbox app. It’s a subtle but powerful shift toward centralized gaming workflows, especially for players managing multiple launchers.

Later this month, Xbox will also roll out cross-device cloud play history. This feature will sync your recent play sessions across console, PC, and handheld devices, with a new “Jump back in” list on the Home screen to help you resume gameplay instantly.
