No, we don’t have any release dates yet, or even what the specification sheet might look like. We do, however, have a name and some information about the next Xbox console release. Microsoft often uses codenames to refer to projects in development to be released at a later date.
It’s good to finally get some good news on the Xbox front. The last few months haven’t been great under the Xbox umbrella, both internally with the announcement of Phil Spencer’s retirement and the news that his supposed successor, Sarah Bond, won’t be taking the position and is moving to another area of the company entirely. The direction of the Xbox division has been anything but clear for a while, at least publicly, with some wondering if Microsoft was done with gaming hardware entirely.
Asha Sharma is now the lead of the Xbox division and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, late today to put the hardware rumor mill to rest, or at least change its narrative. Here’s what she had to say. Notice the key mention that the console will play PC games as well. So some of the rumors can be put to rest, we’ll just have to wait and see what Asha and team Xbox have in store for gamers. I’m relieved and excited, all in the same sentence.
