Xbox updates for March enhance both Windows and mobile gaming

March is packed with free Xbox updates, new console features, and more ways to play across your Xbox devices. Xbox Insiders are getting early access to highly requested features, a few highlights from GDC this month, and new dynamic backgrounds.

If you’re an Xbox Insider, you’ve got a ton of new features to try out. Add up to ten groups to your Xbox Home, and creating your own system color is now an option. Quick Resume can now be disabled on a per-game basis, and up to five recently unlocked profile badges can be found in your profile. Don’t worry, if you’re not an Insider, you’ll get these features in a broader rollout after testing.

Project Helix, the next Xbox console, got unveiled and is prepped to play both PC and console games. Xbox mode for Windows 11 is in the broad rollout phase, and Xbox Play Anywhere is gaining momentum, with over 1,500 games now in the catalog. If dynamic backgrounds are your thing, you’ve got three new ones to choose from: Crimson Desert, Sea of Thieves, and Towerborne.

Some new titles to the Play Anywhere lineup this month: Half-Life 2, Showgunners, and Star Trek Voyager – Across the Unknown. Remember, your achievements, saves, and addons travel with you. If you own some games, you can now stream the games you own using Cloud Gaming. Just a few good ones added to the list this month: Crimson Desert, Marathon, and WWE 2K26. Need to play on a tablet, or left your controller at home? BallXPit has been added to touch-enabled titles.

March brought a wave of improvements to the Xbox console and across Windows devices. From new Insider goodies to the expanded Play Anywhere lineup, there’s something here for everyone. Xbox continues to push player choice and flexibility forward.
