Yes, your PlayStation 3 has an update available

If you still have a PlayStation 3 hooked up and connected to the internet, you got a surprise today: Your console has a software update. That’s right, the nineteen-year-old console got an update 4.92. Don’t get excited; the update doesn’t seem to do anything the user might notice. According to the @AskPlayStation account on X (formally known as Twitter), the update improves system performance.

Interestingly, Sony has chosen to update its 20-year-old console. Nostalgia will live a bit longer; if you still have a PlayStation 3 hooked up and in action, tell us in the comments what you play on it.
