Asus confirms the Asus Ally X will come later this year

About a year ago, Asus announced its first gaming handheld, the Asus ROG Ally. The Ally has been a hit among gamers, with its AMD-powered internals running Windows 11. Asus just finished up a YouTube video, a teaser for the next version of the Ally, called the Asus ROG Ally X.

Asus clarified that the Ally X is more than just a year-over-year spec bump, stating that the Ally X will be considered an “enthusiast” device. While no direct specifications were discussed during the announcement, Asus said they had listened to the feedback from gamers over the past year and made the requested improvements. Battery life is anticipated to be much better, according to Asus. We still don’t know if the SD card overheating issue has been addressed.

Currently, the Asus ROG Ally is $699 with the Z1 extreme CPU; seeing where the Ally X lands on the price sheet will be interesting. Asus intends to continue providing full support to first-generation owners. There’s also an updated version of Armory Crate in the works that is expected to be released sometime in July. Asus plans to unwrap everything about the Ally X on June 2nd. So we’ve got about three weeks to anticipate.
