Xbox and Marvel join forces to celebrate X-Men ’97 with limited-edition console and controllers

Marvel Animation’s X-Men ’97 animated show has been a nostalgic hit with fans and Microsoft’s Xbox team is looking to offer more mutant poignancy with a new custom Series X console and controller set.

A new collaboration between Xbox and Marvel Animations just produced a limited-edition show inspired wrapped Xbox Series X console. Unlike other Xbox Series X skins or wraps, the new X-Men ’97 wrap is more than a few brand colors, single character, or logo design. Instead, Marvel writer Rich Douek teamed up with Paco Diaz to display a full two-page comic story exclusive to the Series X.

Douek and Diaz feature X-Men staples such as Jubilee, Wolverine, Cyclops, Rogue, and Jean Grey in a battle with mutant capture/kill robots, the Sentinels, like the original pilot episode of the 90’s show, Night of the Sentinels Part I.

The Xbox Design Lab is also jumping in on the X-Men ’97 fun with its own set of matching controllers that align with each of premiere gallery of X-Men characters from both original and older shows. Fans can choose from eleven different controllers that use custom colorways to match each specific X-Men characters motif that includes Beast, Bishop, Cyclops, Gambit Jean Grey, Jubilee, Magneto, Morph, Rogue, Storm, and Wolverine.

Each X-Men ’97 inspired controller comes in its own themed packaging, reminiscent of the boxes the old and new action figures are shipped with.

While supplies are limited, Microsoft is holding a sweepstakes for fans to win one of these custom Series X consoles paired with the Wolverine edition of the matching Xbox Design Labs controller.

By following Xbox on X (formerly Twitter) and retweeting the official Xbox sweepstakes tweet ( #XMen97XboxSweepstakes) during the Entry Period, fans can secure their chance to win a Xbox Series X Console inspired by X-Men ’97, Xbox Wireless Controller (this comes with the console but will not be customized), and a Xbox Design Lab Controller inspired by X-Men ’97 Wolverine . The sweepstakes will run exclusively from Monday, April 22, 6:00am PST through Sunday, May 19, 8:00pm PST, offering participants ample time to join in on the excitement.

Marvel Animation’s X-Men ’97 just moved past its mid-season episode and showrunner and voice actors for the show have teased some major shakes up to come. Fans of the both the original 90’s show as well as this new continuation of the X-Men animated series can catch up on all mutant drama on Disney+ or visit a local comic shop to read the exclusive X-Men ’92 and X-Men ’97 comics.
